A Frozen Rescue ~Dick Grayson/Robin X Reader Prt 2

Part 2~
 Then you remember that Batman gave you the laser, with a struggle to keep your hand still, you laser the lock and the lock is broken. You let out a sigh of relief and open the door. You quickly peek outside and see Batman fighting Mr. Freeze.

  “I’m out!” You say in the communicator. “I can’t lift Robin, I need you to do it.”

  “Alright, you need to distract Mr. Freeze.” He says as you watch him grapnel away. You quickly grapple onto a rail and front flip over it. You land only twenty feet away from Freeze.

  “Hey Popsicle, you miss me?” You say with a grin as warmth has finally welcomed your new found energy once more.

  “Don’t insult me, girl!” Mr. Freeze said angrily as he moved around to see you. “You’ll be lucky if that boy lives, just like my wife Nora.” He blasts his freeze ray at you and you quickly roll behind a counter. Cold air quickly blankets you.

  “Victor stop!” You shout quickly slide to another counter. “This isn’t what Nora would want, and you know that!”

  “Don’t talk about her like you know her!” He bellowed as he kicked the counter away, making you fall over. He points the freeze ray at your face. “Just as the Batman’s back is turned to you, like mine was when Nora was taken away from me and killed. When Batman SWORE to protect her.”

  “Victor, it was an accident!” You said calmly. “Batman tried everything he could to save her, everything! He couldn’t freeze her back in time. It was a mechanical failure, we couldn’t do anything.” You hear the ray powering up.

  “It was my mistake that I trusted the Bat to protect her.” Mr. Freeze said with force. “I should never have trusted him or you. Just like he failed to protect Nora, he will fail to protect you!”

  “Victor, please, this isn’t you! This isn’t what Nora fell in love with!” You shout with anger now. You glance up as you see Batman swing onto a scaffolding. “You became a monster, she would be ashamed of you!”

  “Don’t EVER speak of Nora!” Mr. Freeze shouted so loud that his mic on his suit over loaded. “Good-bye [alias]. Just know that Batman was the one who failed you.”

  “Not on my watch!” Batman’s voice echoed, which made Mr. Freeze look up to only get knocked down by Batman.

  Batman threw you your lasso and you caught it, attaching it to your belt. Mr. Freeze quickly got up and fired his freeze ray at Batman who quickly jumped behind a wall. You leap onto Freeze’s back and began punching his main source, you had a good few hits on it before Mr. Freeze threw you off.

  You tumbled away and then quickly got back up, not waiting to stop. You grapple up onto a scaffolding, the freeze ray’s beam following closely behind you. Batman managed a hard punch on Mr. Freeze’s left leg’s gears. Mr. Freeze grunted and quickly swung at Batman, who jumped away.

  As soon as you landed on the scaffolding, you turned around and threw smoke pellets at Mr. Freeze. It blew up at his feet and blinded him, for a few seconds. You grapple on a bar above, swing down and kick down Mr. Freeze. You land on a table and quickly turn around to your foe.

  Batman puts a weapon stabilizer on the freeze ray and it shuts it down. Some of the freeze ray’s content melts onto the floor, leaving a puddle of water. Mr. Freeze punches Batman, knocking Batman off his feet. You take out your taser and fire it at the water next to freeze. Spark shoot across Mr. Freeze’s suit and he cries in pain.

  The electrocution stops after an emergency override is turned on in Mr. Freeze’s suit, which is literally an ice grenade that freeze’s it’s surroundings. Batman runs to Mr. Freeze, punching his visor which makes it crack, and places an emp type of device that shuts down Mr. Freeze’s suit in a matter of seconds.

  The fight is over. You and Batman won. You walk over to Mr. Freeze, Batman standing over him. Mr. Freeze gasping for air from exhaustion, his visor snapping open. “It’s all your fault Batman. Nora would be alive if it wasn’t for you.” He said breathlessly.

  “That’s where you’re wrong Victor.” Batman said emotionless. “It was your system’s program. You knew it was being tampered with, so you had me take care of Nora to try and have me fix the system. You knew it was too late. But you tried to seek revenge on the person who tampered with it. By the time you were finished, Nora was long gone.”

  “It wasn’t me who killed your wife Victor. It was you. You left her to seek revenge, when you could have fixed it. You should have left the criminal to me and focused more on your wife.”

  “You really don’t get it do you?” Victor said outraged. “Everything I have done! Everything I have sacrificed was for Nora! She is everything to me, and now I have lost her! You will know nothing of that pain Batman, nothing! I am nothing without her, so just leave me here to die.”

  “You know I can’t do that Freeze.” Batman said opening Mr. Freeze’s suit and pulling him out.

  Mr. Freeze looked at him with disgust. “I knew you would say that Batman, you are just too stubborn.” Mr. Freeze clicked a button on his small contraption on his chest and the blue tubes on him turned red. “Good-bye.” He began coughing and fell to his knees.

  “NO!” Batman shouts as he tries to reverse it.

  “It’s too late, Batman. There is-- no way-- to stop this…” Mr. Freeze said between gasps. “I’ll be with Nora now…” Mr. Freeze gasps and coughs a few times before his body went limp.

  “There’s nothing you could have done.” You say placing your hand on Batman’s shoulder. “It’s what he wanted.” You say with a frown.

  “Alfred, call GCPD and have them pick up Mr. Freeze’s body in the main laboratory.” Batman said getting up and walking away, you quickly follow to catch up. “I hope he finds his light.”

  “Where’s Robin? Is he safe?” You quickly asked, your sympathy for Mr. Freeze being pushed aside.

  “He was carried out in the Batwing, he’s home [alias].” Batman assured you. You sigh with relief and follow him into the batmobile.

  On the way to the batcave, you could tell that Mr. Freeze’s death was bothering Batman. “Don’t worry, Bruce, I’m sure he’ll find peace.” You try to assure him. He nods, trying not to show his pain. “He will, like your parents have found theirs.” He looks at you with a sympathetic look and then looked away.

  The batmobile jumps through the usual waterfall and it lands onto the landing pad for the batmobile. Once it halts to a stop, you hop out of the Batmobile and run to get changed out of your armor and into your regular [choice of clothes].

  You leave the batcave without a word and head up to Richard’s bedroom. Since you did not see Alfred in the batcave, you could only guess that he’s tending to Richard. Once the elevator reached it’s level, you jogged out of the elevator and up the flight of stairs. You slowed your pace to a walk once you reached the top of the stairs.

  You tapped on Richard’s door and you crack open the door to see him laying on the bed with a heating pack on top of his head. Alfred was flattening out his comforter for Richard and looked at you when you came in. “Are you okay, Ms. [n/n]?”

  “I’m fine.” You say stopping in next to Richard’s bed. “Is he okay?” You look at Richard whose eyes are closed and his skin color isn’t as pale anymore.

  “He’s okay, Ms. [n/n].” Alfred said with reassurance. “He needs to be kept warm and he will be recover in no time. Do you mind watching over him? I need to help ma-”

  “I’m pretty sure I can handle him Alfred.” You say with a smile. Alfred leaves after a small laugh. You sit on Richard’s bed, right next to him. He let’s out a long sigh peaceful sigh and you grin.

  You brush his bangs away from his face and lean over, giving him a small kiss on his cheek. He grins and you chuckle. “I knew you were awake.” You say with a grin. “Still cold?” He nods weakly, one of his eyelids lifted slightly. Just enough to see partial of his blue orbs.

  Once he saw that you noticed, he slowly closed his eye and you chuckled. “Alright bird-boy, I think you were prescribed a long cuddle.” You say laying down next time him and wrapping your arm around him. He leans his head on yours and you can feel him slowly relax.

  “Thank you.” He muttered under his breath, which seemed to take an effort to say.

  “So how does it feel to be the damsel?” You asked looking at his face. He grins and nestles his head onto your shoulder. Your heart skips a beat and you held onto him a small bit tighter. At least he is safe and alive. You just wish there the same could be said for Victor Fries.
